BETA Feed Awareness Week flies the flag for equine nutrition

BETA Feed Awareness Week is back – running for a third time – earlier in the year than usual, but with the same mission, to dispel feeding myths and grow nutritional knowledge. This popular campaign will take place from 27 March to 4 April, just as spring arrives and the competition season begins to unfold.

The initiative, designed to help sort feeding fact from fiction, will reach out to the nation’s horse owners and carers with a huge helping of trustworthy tips and guidance from qualified equine nutritionists.
Many BETA retail and trade members will participate, promoting Feed Awareness Week both in-store, online and via social media, where they will fly the flag for the campaign and its key messages about equine nutritional wellbeing.

A full list of those taking part can be found on the BETA website, beta-uk.org.
The week is supported by leading equestrian organisations such as the British Horse Society, the Pony Club, British Eventing, British Riding Clubs and The Great Horses for Health UK Relay, as well as some of the sport’s most famous competition riders.

“We are delighted to welcome this important campaign back once again following a challenging year that resulted in its postponement in 2020,” said BETA executive director Claire Williams. “With a worrying rise in unqualified or would-be nutritionists on social media, it is essential that owners are able to source sound, professional advice. Feed Awareness Week ticks all the boxes and ensures that trustworthy nutritional information is easily accessible for all. The information provided will help develop existing knowledge and what is learned will remain with people for life.”

Consumers are invited to follow and engage with Feed Awareness Week on Facebook or Instagram using the #BFAW21 hashtag. A flurry of exciting activity will begin two weeks before the actual event, with a series of competitions to win prizes such as saddlecloths and goody bags.
