BETA seeks Britain’s best equestrian retailers

Nov 3 2009

Do you shop with an outstanding equestrian retailer? If so, the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) urges you to nominate your favourite tack shop, website or catalogue for a prestigious national award.

The SEIB Retailers of the Year will be announced at the BETA Gala Dinner in February. To put forward your number one retailer, visit www.retaileroftheyear.org.uk . Everyone who nominates will be entered into a free prize draw to win a £299 Wintec 500 GP saddle.

Before nominating, consider how well a retailer’s products are displayed and explained, if the store is clean and tidy, whether staff are knowledgeable and able to provide sound advice, if a fast delivery service is offered and a good choice of goods is available.

The SEIB Retailer of the Year Award, sponsored by South Essex Insurance Brokers, is one of a series of annual BETA Business Awards recognising excellence in equestrian enterprise.

"When you go horsy shopping, a good retailer can make all the difference by offering a reliable service and helpful advice," says Nicolina MacKenzie of SEIB. "BETA encourages high standards equestrian retailing, enabling horse owners and riders to shop with confidence," added Claire Williams, executive director of BETA.

Retailers of all types and sizes have a chance of winning as the SEIB Retailer of the Year Award is judged in three categories, large, small and internet/mail order retailers.

All nominated businesses will receive a questionnaire from BETA which must be completed and returned to be considered for the next stage of judging. Follow-up visits, possibly incognito, and telephone calls will be made to reach a final decision.

Nominations for the SEIB Retailer of the Year close on 7 December, 2009. For more details, contact BETA on 01937 587062 or visit www.retaileroftheyear.org.uk
