Ride a mechanical horse at BETA International

Jan 19 2009

BETA International visitors will be able to test their skills in the saddle by riding BETA RoboCob, the British Equestrian Trade Association’s mechanical horse.

In a first for the exhibition at the NEC, Birmingham on 15-17 February, BETA RoboCob will be in operation on each of the three days.

BETA RoboCob is a computer-operated, life-size ‘equine’ that responds to the rider’s hand and leg aids and has five ‘gears’, walk to gallop. Rides will be free, with donations invited to The Blue Cross, BETA International’s chosen charity for 2009.

BETA RoboCob is a suitable mount for all ages, from beginners wishing to get a feel of the real thing through to experienced riders who’d like to try something different. He wears proper saddlery for an authentic feel. Riding hats and expert help will be available.

Acquired by BETA as part of the trade association’s mission to encourage riding as a leisure activity, RoboCob appears at shows and events throughout the UK and is available for businesses to hire.

BETA International 2009 takes place on 15-17 February at the NEC, Birmingham, UK. Organiser Equestrian Management Consultants (EMC) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the BETA Group.
