Successful BETA trade Mission to China
BETA has returned from a second successful trade mission to the China Horse Fair, in Beijing, where nine British companies – including Barnsby and Equestrian Surfaces – were able to introduce their products and expertise to a rapidly emerging equestrian market.
“It was clear that the market in China has progressed since our visit last year, with visitors asking more knowledgeable questions about horses and products. The market is still very much in its infancy but has long-term potential for international companies,” said BETA executive director Claire Williams. “The show was well attended and every member of our party has arrived home having made some important industry contacts and with leads to follow.”
A “mini conference” feature operated as part of the fair, providing exhibitors with the opportunity to do a short presentation on their companies, skills and products. Claire Williams took to the podium to talk about Great British products and the UK’s finest craftsmanship, manufacturing, distribution and skills that can be found in the equestrian industry today.
Companies unable to attend the three-day event were represented by BETA, which provided information and contacts on their behalf, while those that exhibited were taken on a tour of the region’s equestrian sites and given access to China’s key movers and shakers at a drinks reception organised by BETA in conjunction with the British Embassy.
Members of the BETA delegation each received up to £3,000 of UKTI funding (dependent on eligibility) and had previously attended a briefing event in London to familiarise themselves with the customs and traditions of business in China.
With its vast experience of overseas shows and global export markets, BETA is well placed to offer advice and support to companies seeking new trading opportunities and is able to secure significant funding for members of its trade missions through United Kingdom Trade & Investment (UKTI).
