BETA backs Bramhams CIC3* for the fifth year

The British Equestrian Trade Association returned to the Equi-Trek Bramham Internation-al Horse Trials, West Yorkshire, as sponsor of the event's CIC 3* for a fifth consecutive year as part of its mission to fly the flag for rider safety and promote the work of BETA and its members.

Izzy Taylor, on Trevidden, put in a dazzling performance to claim victory in the competition and large crowds gathered to see her being presented with her trophy by BETA executive director Claire Williams. BETA also supported the Pony Club Team Show Jumping, providing rugs and cash prizes to the Bedale & West of Yore team, which returned to claim the title for a second year running. Cash prizes were given to those in second and third place, and every rider in this and the British Equestrian Trade Association CIC 3* was given a BETA stable plaque.

Free safety checks for riding hats and body protectors were offered by BETA throughout the four days and everyone who took part received a discount voucher worth 10 per cent off the price of a new safety garment when bought from a participating BETA retail member, visitors flocked to the BETA stand to enter the trade association's annual luxury prize draw offering  £1,500 worth of equestrian goodies for horse and rider. Many donated to the Riding for the Disabled Association in exchange for a smart BETA doggy bandana or rosette.

As part of its commitment to supporting the equestrian trade, all standholders were invited to the BETA Trade Breakfast, where winners of the BETA Best Stand Awards' three cate-gories – Equestrian & Saddlery, Lifestyle, Pet & Fashion and Food & Beverages – were announced. Stands were judged according to BETA's set criteria and awarded either a silver or gold standard.

In Equestrian & Saddlery, retailers R&R Country, Ayr Equestrian and Inch’s Saddlery were awarded gold, while silver went to feed specialist TopSpec Equine and retailers
Wychanger Barton Saddlery and Hope Valley Saddlery.

In the Lifestyle, Pet & Fashion section, gold was won by Polka Dot Pie, selling hand-thrown pottery and Argentinian belts and dog collars, mattress firm Komfi and Teddy Edward, a new business offering stylish British clothing. Silver went to insurance special-ist NFU Mutual, Splash Clothing and luxury card company Cardology.

Food & Beverages saw gold go to drinks company Champagne, Prosecco & Pimms, with its vintage blue Citroen van, and Blueberry Hill Preserves took silver.

“Our sponsorship at Bramham ensures that BETA enjoys a high-profile presence on home turf in Yorkshire and a brilliant opportunity to engage with enthusiastic equestrian people of all ages,” said BETA executive director Claire Williams. “We are able to highlight the work that the trade association and its members carry out on behalf of the consumer and to listen to the things that matter to horse riders and owners, which is really important to us.”
