BETA LAUNCHES NEW SAFETY CAMPAIGN

As part of its ongoing work to improve safety standards throughout the equestrian world, BETA has launched a new initiative to gather information on the use and effectiveness of a body protector.

From the information gathered the association will be able to produce statistics and case studies on incidents where body protectors have (and have not) been involved which will be vital in ensuring the continued development of body protectors and assist in promoting the use of the garments to the wider riding public. In order to assist us with our efforts we would like as many people to help us in our campaign by FILLING IN A QUESTIONNAIRE which is available on our website or in hard copy by request from the BETA office.

Rider and Product Safety - BETA is in the forefront

The BETA 2000 standards for Body and shoulder protectors is now recognised as the world wide industry standard. Introduced in March 2000, this updated standard will take over from the previous 1995 Standard completely as of September 2001.

With safety an important issue to the future of riding BETA offers vital training to retailers in hat and body protector fitting as well as other safety equipment. When planning to purchase safety equipment such as hats or body protectors, you should choose a stockist qualified by BETA to advise on whether the product fits properly and is manufactured to the latest safety standard.

BETA also works with other organisations such as the Society of Master Saddlers and the British Horse Society to ensure rider safety awareness is highlighted both to the trade and to the consumer.

Having the right equipment for the job is vital for rider safety. The selection and the fitting of the right body protector, riding hat and tack, with the assistance of a qualified BETA retailer, will reduce the risk of injury to both horse and rider.
