National Equestrian Survey Report Publications

Reports on the Survey are available at three levels.

Level One: Overview

This provides an account of equestrianism at a national level and summarises the main research findings. It will suit the reader who wishes to gain an insight into horse riding and ownership in Great Britian without wanting to examine particular aspects in more detail.

Level Two: Structural

This examines the principal findings from the Level One report in more detail, segmenting the 'market' by frequency of riding, by region, by horse ownership and other relevant characteristics.

Level Three: Products and Brands

Produce Studies, who have contributed towards the cost of the survey, offer a number of reports which examine purchases of some key equestrian products and services in terms of products and brands bought, sources of purchase, brand awareness etc.

These specially prepared reports provide market share and composition estimates in important sectors such as:

Horse feeds - conducted among over 600 horse owners drawn from both the general public and 'professional' sectors and covering an estimated population of 900 000 horses.

Wormers & Other Medication - conducted among over 600 horse owners about their purchases of wormers and other medication, vets' fees and grooming aids.

Riding footwear and Clothing - conducted among over 500 horseriders and 200 professional establishments about their purchases and awareness of manufacturers and brand names. 

Insurance - Covering both public and professional sectors about their horse insurance arrangements. Includes an analysis of accidents involving riders.

The Readership habits of owners and riders - conducted among over 1000 people about their readership of the main equestrian publications.
