BETA Codes of Conduct

BETA operates a number of codes of conduct covering both the manufacturing/wholesaling and retailing sectors. Theses codes provide a framework of business conduct for suppliers and retailers within the equestrian world.

The retail trade can see that signatories to the suppliers (trade) code of conduct are prepared to trade ethically according to conditions clearly defined in the Code. Feed manufacturers and commission agents are excluded from this code. The feed industry has its own code.

Suppliers can see that BETA retailers, complying as a condition of their membership to the retail code, will supply their products to consumers in a fair and honest manner, while offering consumers the security of knowing that an industry wide organisation stands behind their retailer and offers an arbitration service in case of complaint.

The Feed Code of Practice has been developed to set standards for the industry and create a unified approach to the marketing and promotion of equine feed. This Code was introduced in 2002 and was supported by promotion to the trade and consumer sectors.
