Why Join?

BETA is here to help the equestrian industry, to help individual companies get the most out of the equestrian industry and to help you.

As well as offering members a range of tangible benefits to assist them to save money, BETA acts as a representative and lobbying body to work on members' behalf when issues come up on a regional, national or European basis. This lobbying role depends on the strength of membership and there are still a great many areas to explore and work on both within and outside the industry including the development of riding, the continuation of hunting with hounds, food safety legislation on a European wide level, and raising the standards of retailing to meet the challenge of developments on the internet. 

By joining your industry body you are helping us represent you and your interests throughout the industry in the broader business environment. Without members we cannot do this work.

Use of the BETA logo Whether in store, on advertising, packaging, writing paper or invoices, the BETA logo is widely recognised by consumers and the trade as the symbol of a legitimate and trustworthy business. The BETA symbol is associated with product of high standards and with companies who comply with the strict BETA codes of practice.
Market information Both in the UK and Overseas
Training Specialist and general business courses at subsidised prices.
Market Research All members receive a free copy of the Overview report from the National Equestrian Survey as well as discounts off the full survey report.
Advice and arbitration service on consumer and customer matters
Political representation BETA has obtained changes in the law to the benefit of members.
Discounted goods and services Preferential rates on services varying from Insurance to Stakeholder pensions, web site design to copywriting advice. 
Industry representation BETA's position on a number of industry committees enables members to voice their opinions in appropriate forums.
Promotion of Riding Benefit from our sponsorship of the Jeep National Riding Festival, originally a BETA initiative.

Retailer Member Benefits

Trade Member Benefits

Trade members benefit from our increasing concentration on the quality of membership, strict criteria and our commitment to grow the industry and improve business standards. BETA will help you expand in the home market and into overseas markets as well as running the only specialist equestrian Trade fair in Europe. There are some practical benefits as well:

Equine Member Benefits

This category of membership was set up for dealers, auctioneers and equestrian establishments who derive their living from the equestrian industry. Being a member of a trade association gives some confidence to potential customers. In addition we have carried out important market research into the equestrian market in the UK and take an active role in the Jeep National Riding Festival to promote riding to the British public. BETA also did the research on the effects of VAT on the sale of horse, as a result of which the VAT Scheme for Second Hand Horses and Ponies was introduced. The forms required for the VAT Scheme are available at reduced rates to BETA members from our office. 

Overseas Members Benefits

BETA has worldwide contacts in the equestrian industry. Anyone selling to the UK or buying from the UK can benefit from Overseas membership of BETA. An information service about suppliers in the UK and an introduction service for visitors is available through the BETA Office. This is a non-voting category of membership

  • Overseas Trade members are eligible for a membership discount on stand space booked. 
  • Overseas Retail members are eligible for the travel and accommodation grant to BETA International.
